A Salomon initiative

powered by the MK360

Several groups of patients with neurological impairments, whether due to spinal cord injuries or acquired brain damage, were able to enjoy an experience that aims to bring the mountains closer to the patients Guttman Institute, one of the most recognized neurorehabilitation centers in Europe, from an inclusive and differential way through Broomx technology.

A Route through Pedraforca

Last March, Salomon recorded the ascent and descent of Pedraforca with a 360º video camera. The objective: to transmit the sensations of climbing a mountain to all those who could not experience it. It was then that the possibility of performing an immersive projection at the Guttmann Institute with the MK360 was created.

The MK360 projector allowed one of the rooms of the Badalona neurorehabilitation center to become an ascent of the legendary Pedraforca mountain over the course of eight minutes, thanks to the video recorded by Salomon runner Biel Ràfols and edited by the team of creators of Broomx, who gave it a more epic, emotional and experiential air. This video is now part of the Broomx content catalog and really gives the feeling of climbing the mountain, with the snowy summit on a beautiful winter day.

An Inclusive Activity

The participants valued this experience very positively and appreciated the fact of being able to virtually “escape” from the center for a few moments, and to be able to have the feeling of freedom, joy and well-being that contact with nature provides. All this, in addition, by the hand of the promoters of the project, especially Biel Ràfols, who explained the origins of this unique project and shared with the patients various anecdotes of the ascents he is carrying out.

Salomon 360º Mountains

This initiative is part of the Salomon 360º Mountains project, which aims to bring people closer to the mountains from anywhere and at any time. The idea arose in 2020 when Salomon began using 360 cameras to record the routes to the summits of some of the best-known mountains in the Pyrenees. This action has continued through a specific web portal, and actions like those of the Guttmann Institute will be repeated in other rehabilitation centres and hospitals in Spain soon. Don’t miss the video!
