A Salomon initiative

powered by the MK360

A group of 20 patients with a neurological disorder, whether due to spinal cord injury or acquired brain damage, have participated in Salomon’s initiative hosted at the Institut Guttmann. The inclusive experience gifts patients with the experience of climbing a mountain immersively through Broomx technology.

Through the power of immersive technology, the MK360 transforms one of the rooms of the Institut Guttmann, a neurorehabilitation hospital in Badalona (Barcelona). The room becomes the Pedraforca mountain summit while being illustrated by the video recorded by Salomon with 360 technology.

Salomon 360º Mountains

The projection is part of the Salomon 360º Mountains project, which aims to bring mountains closer to everyone, from anywhere and anytime. The idea came about in 2020 when Salomon recorded the routes to the peaks of some of the best-known mountains in the Pyrenees.

A tour through Pedraforca

Salomon recorded the ascent and descent of Pedraforca with a 360º video camera. The goal is to transmit the sensations of climbing a mountain to those who cannot live the experience. It was then that the possibility of making an immersive screening at the Institut Guttmann with the MK360 was conceived.

An inclusive activity

The experience has allowed a group of 20 people with a neurological disorder to enjoy in an immersive and virtual format the freedom and positive sensations of climbing the Pedraforca. The creators of the initiative explained to the patients the project’s idea and shared anecdotes about their experience climbing the mountain.
