Participation at the 45th IHF World Hospital Congress
Last November 9th 2022, Dra. Marta Linares, clinical psychologist of the Fundació Hospital d’Olot i Comarcal de la Garrotxa, presented their project using Broomx technology at the 45th IHF World Hospital Congress, held in Dubai.
The study began in March 2021 with the aim to analyze the benefits of immersive therapy as a tool to manage anxiety and emotional well-being on health professionals, especially after the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic created among healthcare professionals.
Emotional improvement in 85% of the participants
This research quasi-experimental study included a group of 35 health professionals that undertook immersive therapy for 8 weeks, consisting on a minimum of 10 minutes session at least 2 times a week. The intervention was implemented using the MK360 system and a selection of relaxing content we created for them, that is currently available for all of our clients.
A statistically significant improvement in anxiety and well-being was found, and these changes were clinically significant. Their findings indicated that over 85% of the participants increased their mental well-being, moving from moderate or severe anxiety levels to mild or no anxiety levels.
The results demonstrate that this intervention improves the perception of physical and mental anxiety levels, and increases the sense of care and self-care among the health professionals. Among the conclusions, it encouraged more studies to further analyze this novel intervention, and it motivated other institutions to initiate similar projects not only with health professionals, but also with patients with different pathologies.
Emotional well-being of professionals
In the context of COVID-19 pandemic, most of health professionals were under emotional sustained stress, and due to this reason, many attempts are made to strengthen the emotional well-being of health professionals. Similar experiences have been implemented in different specialties in the field of mental health but also in other areas such as paediatrics, neurology, palliative care and geriatric care.

One of the first hospitals tha incorporated the world’s first immersive projection system
The Fundació Hospital d’Olot i Comarcal de la Garrotxa has a specific room equipped with the Broomx’ MK360 projector.
This all-in-one device projects immersive content in the walls and ceiling of a room, surrounding and immersing the users allowing a group experience without using individual headsets. This technology improves the participant’s or patient’s experience because it allows them to relax and improve their emotional well-being, reduce the perception of pain, generate exercises and therapies focused on stimulating cognitive functions, and work on adaptive skills.
