Clínic inaugurates two immersive virtual reality rooms to improve child and adolescent mental health
Hospital Clínic Barcelona has inaugurated two virtual reality rooms to enhance mental health care for children and adolescents. These rooms, focused on relaxation and group therapy, use immersive technology to reduce anxiety and improve emotional well-being.
With the support of Reale Foundation, this project embraces innovation to humanize treatments and explore new forms of therapy using virtual reality.

Dr. Josefina Castro
“Immersive technology allows us to explore new ways to improve patients’ emotional well-being and self-regulation.”.
Director of the Clínic Institute of Neurosciences (ICN) and coordinator of the Childhood and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychology Research Group at IDIBAPS.
Immersive virtual reality, a potential therapeutic tool
The new immersive rooms at Clínic Barcelona aim to reduce the use of restrictive measures in child and adolescent psychiatry, offering a more humane and effective approach. A study will evaluate their impact on reducing anxiety and improving emotional well-being, with the goal of validating their effectiveness and expanding their implementation in other centers.
